FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Date and Venue Announced for the 2025 Miss Point Fortin Borough Queen Pageant

The Management Committee of the Miss Point Fortin Borough Queen Pageant wishes to officially inform the public of the rescheduled date and venue for the 2025 edition of the pageant.

Originally carded for Saturday, April 26th, the event was postponed due to the scheduling of Trinidad and Tobago’s General Elections on April 28th. The committee unanimously agreed that hosting the show on April 26th would have been unwise, as all major political parties planned their final national rallies for that same day. Additionally, our intended venue, Point Fortin East Secondary School, was also a designated polling station .

In our commitment to host the event as close as possible to the original date, we explored rescheduling to May 31st, based on initial (unofficial) indications that the school would be available. Unfortunately, we were later informed by the school principal that the venue would be unavailable due to ongoing examinations during that period.

Determined that the show must go on, we began scouting alternate locations within Point Fortin. However, we did not receive the necessary confirmations from other local venues. Faced with the difficult decision of either cancelling the event or moving it outside of the borough, we explored venues further afield. We contacted both the Naparima Bowl and the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts (SAPA). While both were fully booked throughout May, June 15th was available at Naparima Bowl and June 20th at SAPA.

While we sought official approval for both, confirmation from SAPA came through first, and we made the tough—but necessary—decision to host the pageant at SAPA.

We delayed our public announcement until formal confirmation and venue booking were secured, as we wanted to ensure transparency and avoid any misinformation.

This decision to continue the pageant, despite the setbacks, was driven by our commitment to the seven exceptional delegates who had already been selected and were deep into their preparation. We could not in good conscience disappoint these young women who have committed themselves wholeheartedly to the journey.

Although not within the Borough Day celebratory period, , We are therefore proud to officially announce that the 2025 Miss Point Fortin Borough Queen Pageant – Legacy of Beauty, will now take place on:

Friday, June 20th (the Labour Day holiday) at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts (SAPA). Showtime: 6:00 PM.

Tickets will be available online at Boro Queen. com, from all seven delegates, and at all publicised ticket outlets.

Ticket cost $175. Early attendees gets to choose their seats. Reserved VIP cost $375.

We invite the public to come out in support of our delegates and help us celebrate this cultural tradition that continues to showcase the grace, talent, and resilience of our young women.

Prior to the Miss Universe’s 2023 landmark decision to include plus-size women, our very own pageant featured two inspiring delegates, Wendy King and Emerald Edwards, who challenged traditional beauty standards and showcased the confidence and grace of full-figured women.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Since its inception, the Miss Point Fortin Boro Queen Show has been a beacon of culture, talent, and community spirit in Point Fortin. Each year, we’ve witnessed the transformation of our beloved Point Fortin East Secondary School into a vibrant arena, celebrating the beauty and brilliance of our young women. This transformation, however, comes at a considerable cost – both financial and in terms of human effort.

As we prepare for the 2024 pageant, we stand at a crossroads. Our commitment to showcasing the best of Point Fortin remains unwavering, yet we must also be stewards of our resources. The reality is stark: preparing our traditional venue from scratch every year has strained our finances. We’ve had to cover expenses for General, Special Reserve & VIP Seating, Tables, Sound Systems, Decor, Stage Lighting, Bar Area, Ushers, Security, General assistants, along with all cash prizes made to delegates and other miscellaneous expenses. which are not just costly, but also logistically challenging.

We’re profoundly grateful to our sponsors, whose generous contributions in products, services, and occasional financial gifts have kept this event afloat. But as a non-profit event, the financial pressures are mounting. We’ve reached a point where we must consider every option to reduce unnecessary expenditures without compromising the essence of our beloved pageant.

It’s with this context that we’re considering a significant change: moving the 2024 pageant to either the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts (SAPA) or Naparima Bowl, both located in San Fernando. These venues offer many of the amenities we spend so much to provide, included in their rental cost. This move could mean a more sustainable future for the pageant, ensuring that our focus remains on celebrating our contestants and our community, rather than battling logistical and financial challenges.

We understand that this potential move comes with concerns. The Miss Point Fortin Boro Queen Show is more than just an event; it’s a part of our identity, a celebration deeply rooted in our community. Moving to San Fernando, even with the new highway making travel easier, is not a decision we take lightly.

This is where we need your voice. We’re seeking your opinions, your thoughts, and your feelings on this proposed move. As we weigh our options, your input is invaluable. How do you feel about this change? Will this move affect your ability or desire to attend the pageant? What does the Miss Point Fortin Boro Queen Show mean to you, and how can we preserve its essence irrespective of the venue?

Your responses will guide us in making a decision that best serves our community and the future of the Miss Point Fortin Boro Queen Show. We are here to listen, to understand, and to work together towards a solution that honors our past while embracing a sustainable future.

Together, let’s continue to celebrate the strength, grace, and beauty of Point Fortin’s finest.

With heartfelt thanks and anticipation,

The Miss Point Fortin Boro Queen Show Committee

Miss Point Fortin Boro Queen Pageant Opens Doors to Mothers, Married, and Divorced Young Ladies

The Miss Point Fortin Boro Queen Pageant is proud to announce a significant change for the 2024 competition: the inclusion of mothers, married, and divorced young ladies between the ages of 17 and 29. This decision reflects a commitment to recognizing the diverse experiences and contributions of women in our community and to providing a platform for them to showcase their talents, intelligence, and leadership.

Why We’re Making This Change:

For too long, beauty pageants have been criticized for perpetuating narrow and outdated ideals of femininity. We believe that the Miss Point Fortin Boro Queen Pageant should be a platform that celebrates the achievements and potential of all women, regardless of their marital status or family background.

By opening our doors to mothers, married, and divorced young ladies, we hope to achieve the following:

  • Promote inclusivity and diversity: Our community is made up of women from all walks of life. We believe the Miss Point Fortin Boro Queen Pageant should be a reflection of that diversity.
  • Recognize the strength and resilience of mothers: Motherhood is a demanding and rewarding experience that often goes unrecognized. We want to celebrate the mothers in our community and provide them with an opportunity to shine.
  • Empower married and divorced women: Women who are married or divorced often face unique challenges and opportunities. We believe the Miss Point Fortin Boro Queen Pageant can be a platform for them to share their stories and inspire others.
  • Challenge outdated stereotypes: Beauty pageants have long been associated with superficiality and unrealistic beauty standards. We want to show that pageantry can be a platform for intelligent, accomplished, and diverse women.

More Than Just a Beauty Pageant

The Miss Point Fortin Boro Queen Pageant is not just about beauty. We are looking for young ladies who are passionate about making a difference in their community. We are looking for leaders, role models, and ambassadors for Point Fortin.

We believe that mothers, married, and divorced young ladies have a wealth of experience and wisdom to offer. They are strong, resilient, and determined individuals who can inspire others. We are excited to welcome them to the Miss Point Fortin Boro Queen family and to see what they will achieve.

Join the Journey

If you are a mother, married, or divorced young lady between the ages of 17 and 29, we encourage you to apply for the 2024 Miss Point Fortin Boro Queen Pageant. This is your opportunity to showcase your talents, share your story, and make a difference in your community.

Together, we can redefine what it means to be a queen.

Sincerely,

The Miss Point Fortin Boro Queen Pageant Team
